Kev Merripen has longed for the beautiful, well-bred Winnifred Hathaway ever since her family rescued him from the brink of death when he was just a boy. But this handsome Gypsy is a man of mysterious origins—and he fears that the darkness of his past could crush delicate, luminous Win. So Kev refuses to submit to temptation…and before long Win is torn from him by a devastating twist of fate.
Then, Win returns to England…only to find that Kev has hardened into a man who will deny love at all costs. Meantime, an attractive, seductive suitor has set his sights on Win. It’s now or never for Kev to make his move. But first, he must confront a dangerous secret about his destiny—or risk losing the only woman he has lived for…

Lisa Kleypas’ “Seduce Me at Sunrise” (second book of the “Hathaway” series) is darkly passionate, sensual, and utterly devastating. Our hero Kev is fierce, broody, and desperately in love. Half Romany, half gadji (white), Kev was raised by his abusive uncle. The man turned him into a cruel heartless Romany warrior, hurting him emotionally and physically until everything soft inside him died… or so Kev thought. Left for dead by his clan and taken in by the Hathaways provides Kev with another chance, though. While recovering under the Hathaways’ roof Kev notices Winnifred, young, delicate, and fragile. She is everything good, kind and gentle. In her presence the vicious side of him quietens. He decides to stay and in doing so changes his whole life.

Tragedy occurs when scarlet fever strikes two members of the family. One is Winn. Both survive, but Winn is left weakened. Two years of being weak and helpless watching others live life while she stays in bed incite Winn to get herself better at all costs. She makes plans to go to France to a unorthodox clinic which Kev tries to stop from taking place. Win offers him a choice – tell her he loves her or she goes. He can not bring himself to say it, because if he did he could never refrain from claiming her… which he doesn’t want to do because he doesn’t think he’s good enough for her.

Move forward a few years. Win is at the age of spinsterhood upon her return from the clinic. She’s twenty-five and more than ready to begin her life. She refuses to take anything for granted and plans to marry and have children. Kev is still rejecting the idea of Win being for him.. at least until he finds out that her doctor doesn’t plan on marring Winn, but using her, spurring Kev into action.

“Seduce Me at Sunrise” is a great second edition to the “Hathaway” series. Win and Kev are not the whole of this book. Amelia and Cam are revisted (from the first book “Mine Till Midnight”. We learn more about Cam, Kev, and the Gypsys. We even learn more about the Hathaway parents. The story was slow to start, but once Winn came home it drew me in until the very end.
